The Models of the Mind Introductory Course is being offered again in 2010
Models of the Mind
An Introduction to Psychoanalytic Thinking
A One year course in 2010
Thursday evenings 8-9.30 pm, Melbourne Institute for Psychoanalysis, 400 Tooronga Road, Hawthorn East, 3123
BEGINNING APRIL 22nd
A central objective of the course is to interest, engage and stimulate discussion amongst group participants and the seminar leaders. A relatively unstructured informal discussion in a small group facilitates this.
A selection of papers will be chosen to introduce course participants to the key concepts and their development in psychoanalytic thinking and practice, such as focusing on a psychoanalytic understanding of the mind: its birth, its development, models of the mind and what it needs for growth. The course content will therefore consist of some central works by seminal psychoanalytic thinkers and later elaborations of these concepts and theories. The themes and concepts emerging from the Infant Observation seminar are explored further in subsequent seminars.
